I have an IT background, so when I started my real estate business 6+ years ago, my first thing to do is to build my online presence because I believe that's the way things are going.
I was one of the first agents on Trulia when it was first launched - Since Trulia's home base is in San Francisco, and my company is the #1 company in Marin county, Trulia approached our company to have top agents help with the site. Well, as a new agent, I ended up devote much more time on the site and have enjoyed meeting many agents that are on the frontier of social media.
So, yes, a big part of marketing that I do is on social media. Not something that I have to suddenly devote time to do, but it is just a very natural part of my marketing plan. It is embedded in my real estate career.

Yes, social media marketing is part of my marketing plan for 2011 and beyond. My company has been encouraging real estate agents to get more exposure on the internet as most potential home buyers (90%) begin their search on the internet.
There are many questions from consumers on the Trulia site that post questions specific to home inspections and I'm sure that they would find your advice valuable which might turn into some leads for you.
