You can ask any realtor. They not only have access to foreclosures but many of them have probably already seen the INSIDE and can tell you the condition of the home.

My first suggestion would be to check your local County Sherrifs office for auctions. Then you could research through the internet for HUD Homes http://www.hmbireo.com/ or another source is "OCWEN" http://www.ocwen.com/reo/home.cfm and through Trulia or Zillow.

When dealing with any Foreclosure I suggest you find a good Buyers agent, specifically one that is familiar with Bank Foreclosures, and especially if dealing with HUD, they have a strict procedure to be followed.

If you're looking for free foreclosure listings in South Bend, IN your best bet is to contact a Realtor that specializes in the investment and REO market (something my team and I do). There are a number of websites that you can visit and sign up to receive lists of foreclosed homes, however the majority of the time these lists are old and the properties are already sold (it's a waste of time in my opinion).

Most if not all homes that are taken back by the bank through foreclosure are listed by licensed agents and are easily found in the MLS (multiple listing service) by an experienced Realtor. Our local MLS doesn't have a search feature for "foreclosed homes", but we keep an active inventory of them in order to pass the information along when folks like yourself inquire.
