we're looking to buy a home and some of the foreclosures look good, but do you have to sign up on the website and pay for the listings?

County official records have foreclosure records--look under documents for lis pendens, too--(preforeclosure filings), and the foreclosure sales will be listed--I would recommend going to the courthouse and observing a sale before you are ready to buy and talk with those in attendance--there usually will be a bank rep there who might be willing to share info with you.

http://www.realtytrac.com has pre-foreclosures and is free for seven days...I subscript to there services because it gives me a lot of good leads. There are a lot of buyers looking for a good deal and the presception is you can get a good deal on a foreclosure. Antonio is right in that a search of REALTOR.com or coldwellbanker.com has foreclosure in the description of the property.

I hope this help and if you need any more assistance I would in glad to help.

Stacey:

Any Realtor meneber of the local MLS system will be able to search the datbase by "keywords" and supply you the list for free. Of course, it would be nice for you to in return use them for the purchase of the property. Remember that as a buyer, your Realtor representation is a free services and provides you with a highly skilled negotiator.

Many lenders list REOs (homes they've foreclosed on) on their Web sites. Pre-foreclosures--houses on which a notice of default has been issued but not yet foreclosed upon--are published in your newspapers--classified ad section.
