It's hard to say what "normal" is when it comes to banks. Is bailing them out with billions of dollars normal? At any rate, if they are delaying be grateful and use the opportunity to save your cash while the bank figures out what it is doing. Good luck

Hi Don,

Sorry about your situation. The lenders are very backed up and taking longer to foreclose sometimes the file is going back and forth between Loss Mitigation and REO departments while the lender figures out what to do. It is possible shadow inventory. There is a good resource for how to handle the bank at this time. The section of the video I would like to refer you to is Cash for keys and the video will explain how it works.

Yes it is, 6 to 9 months seems to be the average. During that time also several banks postponed foreclosing during the holidays which extended the time down the line.

On the bad side, don't be surprised if someone just knocks on the door and say "your house has been foreclosed on, you have 24 hours to leave the property or you will be evicted".

They'll get to you eventually. They're probably swamped. Sorry to hear about your situation. On the positive side of things--enjoy the free ride while it lasts. Good Luck
