Where can I find out how to make a bid on this foreclosed property?

Chad
Home Buyer
Portage, MI

This property has been foreclosed on several months ago. At one time when it was listed I put a bid on it only to find out the listing was pulled. It has been taken off the market and has been sitting vacant for about 3 months now. I would like to know if you can find out any details on this property as I wish to purchase this house.

First off thank you to all for your wonderful answers! The property ended up back on the market and we almost bought the house! Then the basement flooded and there were no signs of that happening when we got it inspected. We backed out of the deal at the last minute because we could not and would not by a house that had the slight possibility of this happening again!

From the time frames you offer, I suspect the previous owner was trying to sell the house during the redemption period and wasn't successful. The house then was taken back by the bank and listed again after it had gone through their legal wranglings. Regardless, call the phone number on the notice on the door. That's your first, best bet.

Since I am not in michigan but I did check Realty Trac and did not come up with any hits. However, it appears the attorney firm of trout and trout is the primary foreclosure attorney in the area. I would contact Trout and Trout to get your information. If not them, I would check the court records and see who is the attorney of record.

There could be a few different reseasons a foreclosed home is pulled off teh market and then there is a lull until it ocmes back on the market. Often times the bank changes servicers or assett managing companies. The new company then starts form the beginning of the process. The bank could have reached an agreement with the private mortgage insurance company where they take the property back from the bank and pay the bank off. Again the sales process has to start from the beiginning. There also could be a problem with the deed and it had to come off the market. If you contact the bank it is unlikely they would reply. The banks do not sell their own property so they may not even be able to tell you the status. You should have a buyer broker to assist you and they can assist you with this or other foreclosed homes. if you want to do it on you own, drive by the house frequently and look for a letter poste don the door with contact information on who to call. good luck

The fastest way to see if you can connect with the owner is find out who the attorney that foreclosured on the property and contact them to see if you can get a answer or if there is something holding up the transfer of the property i.e; bankruptcy or eviction.

you likely have to wait until it resurfaces. you could send a letter to the owner of record at the county... but i don't know if they'd even respond. it may be that the bank is shifting portfolios, making behind the scenese ownership changes or clearing a title issue. they probably CAN'T sell it right now, and that's why they are not trying.
