Previous home owner lost the house to a foreclosure. Has not made any payments in over a year and has appealed eviction more than once. Only staying a few hours during the day in the house. At a lose for what to do.
any updates? has the house gtone to auction already?
Thanks guys for the responses so far. Sorry for the delay with an update as I was away for a few weeks there. Anyhow, no changes in the way this has proceeded. Former owner has put up roadblocks every step of the way. The house has been foreclosed on now for over a year and the former owner has constantly managed to prevent the eviction by appealing the foreclosure or the eviction itself.
Taking off the front door doesn't sound like that bad of an idea. Any ways to put pressure on the occupant to get out? I can't believe it is this difficult to evict a person when they're not even living in the house full time. Just there for a few days a month.
thanks
Home Buyer,
By confering with a real estate attorney you can be sure to remain on the right side of the law. Begin the formal eviction process.
Talk to a real estate lawyer. See if he'll take a couple grand to walk. I've heard of people taking off the front door for repairs but I'm not sure if thats legal in NY, so ask an attorney. Tell him that with the eviction on his record, no landlord anywhere is going to rent to him. if your a landlord, always check for prior evictions, if they know how to play that game, do not let them anywhere near your rental.
Professional eviction service should get almost any one out in 60-90 days legally. Call or email me for information on one such company I have had great feedback on.
