Don't wait for anything call the bank call the people at makinghomesaffordable.gov. Get as much help as you can! This process is messy and lenders treat each situation differently and do not respond timely. It all depends on you. Have you applied for a modification? If not , pull up the lenders website and print the mod application and complete it with the required information. Sent the information via certified mail and fax and follow up and follow up and follow up. My luck has not been very good since 3/09 with the new program and the reported results have not been good either. Look at as may options as you can and cover all your bases to reduce your risks.

Veronica,

I'm sorry for your loss. You may not have time to be patient and wait for an answer from the lender. Persistance will help but I would suggest that you contact the Home Ownership Preservation Foundation and request some assistance. They are a non profit organization endorsed by the National Association of REALTORS. There is no fee for their service and they may be able to help you naviagate through some of the common pitfalls of a loan modification. I have attached a link to their web site or you can call them at 1-888-995-HOPE.

Good luck and best wishes for a speedy resolution.

This process can take a few months. I suggest calling them every week to check status. Make sure that they have the package. There are times where they have incomplete information and they do not notify you that they need more paperwork. Keep on them!

Hi Veronica,
Can you be a little more clear with your question? Are you working directly with your bank on the loan modification, or did you hire a company to do it for you?
