FIRST ANSWER
It depends if the bankruptcy was dismissed or discharged and what type of bankruptcy. For all chapters except a chapter 13 the time frame is 4 years from either the discharge or dismissal date of bankruptcy. On chapter 13 bankruptcies it is 2 years from the discharged date and 4 years from the dismissal date. These time frames are from a announcement from fnma dated June 25, 2008.
