A few questions -
What purpose are you buying a home?
Have you ever purchased real estate before?
A foreclosure?
What type of financing do you plan to use? Cash? Mortgage?

Foreclosures can be good buys...and not so good buys - you've got to know what you're looking for - exactly.

Depending on where you're looking - there are over 3400 foreclosures for sale throughout Long Island. 2 specifically in Islip - but I don't see any in Sayville - just gave a quick look.

Taylor, as with any purchase, it might be beneficial to narrow down areas- having someone that's an expert in their specific area, able to demonstrate the actual value of the property (foreclosure or not) is important. With short sales and foreclosures popping up everywhere, find someone experienced in your area of choice, that can provide the most accurate value for you. Foreclosures, while often very good buys, on occasion AREN'T- a Realtor with area specific competence may be your best bet. Good luck!
