How to find out which bank holds a mortgage of a foreclosed property?

My neighbors house is being foreclosed. There is a sticker on the door which states the property is deemed vacant. There are companies mowing the lawn. How would a person find out who holds the mortgage? There is no foreclosure sign. Thanks

If the property has not yet been foreclosed, it makes no difference which bank holds the mortgage. You cant deal directly with the lender. If your neighbor still owns the property he is the person you need to deal with - assuming you are interested in buying the property.

Go to the town hall and give them the address. Tell them you are interested to see who is holding the mortgage and the town will help you! That is what they are there for. Realtor's can do this too but if your not interested in buying just ask the town to help you look up the deed. then it will show the current owner. If you are interested in further assistance, give me an email with the address...

You can look it up on the Judicial website if you know the owner's name. To find the name, many towns have their tax assessors database online. You can also look in the land records for the town and see who held the mortgage and/or who filed the Lis Pendens.
