The previous answers are correct. It varies bank by bank. It also varies how long it actually takes to go into the foreclosure department, I have been told once it goes to the foreclosure department it will take a minimum of five to six months currently in the stare of Florida before you will have to leave your home. Some banks are really trying to work with homeowners to find a way to keep you in your home if this is your goal. Be open with your bank representatives and ask these questions, I have found many are willing to be honest and answer you to the best of their ability. I am working with one now who is currently six months behind and it has yet to go to the foreclosure department. I've heard of some being up to 24 months behind and still not in foreclosure, so there is not one answer out there, it just varies case by case...

It can vary widely, bank by bank. But before things get out of hane, please contact your lender and see if there's a possibility of remediation and help. While, this can be a very difficult time for you, it is no time to sit back and wait. Taking an active interest might help you save the home or at the least your credit.
