were behind. A group came in and paid my loan and it didn't affect my credit report. We sold the house to them and did a lease to purchase. They increased my payments from $800/mo to $1220/mo. and forged the Deed in the Trustees office by changing the amount of sale from $117,024.98 to $177,000. After paying them for 3 years never missing a payment, the loan company foreclosed on them and sold the house, the sheriff came to sit us out on the street. Do we have any rights? What about the fraudulent deed? They did charge a 10% fee as well. Thanks, Sharon Skeen in TN

Contact a lawyer and your state's attorney general's office.

I agree that you should try all of the resources below. Also, gather all the documents you have involving the deal. If you cannot afford an attorney you may be able to get assistance at Legal Aid. Whether you get one through Legal Aid or you pay someone, the more organized all your paperwork and documentation is the faster and better they can help you.

I am so sorry this has happened to you. It's terrible when honest people make a mistake and get taken advantage of by frauds.

Check http://makinghomeaffordable.gov/index.html. The website will help you identify counselors that can assist you and make you aware of the different foreclosure advoidance scams. The government has done a lot recently to go after people and companies creating mortgage fraud. The FBI has a department going after these companies that are commiting fraud.

The issue with the eviction I would think an attorney would have to be contacted to address the eviction.

I would contact an attorney as well as the Tennessee Attorney Generals Offices consumer protection division. Their number is (615) 741-1671.
