R, Home Buyer in Houston, TX

Can I take in rent-paying housemates to help me with expenses in my owner occupied HUD home in Texas? I would continue to live in this residence.

HUD house I purchased is too big, particularly since I no longer have family members living with me. Three bedrooms and the entire upstairs is going to waste currently. I have friends are that need temporary housing.

It is YOUR house...... HUD has no say in your roommate situation.

Yes, you can. I would encourage you to get your room rental agreements in writing so the ground rules are clear to tall involved.

I would think that as long as the home remains your residence, it shouldn't be an issue. All that's required is that the buyer live in the property. From a practical point of view, however, how many friends are there? I wouldn't turn the place into a boarding house.
