For Rent in San Jose>Question Details

Feli, Other/Just Looking in Providence, RI

I'm relocating to San Jose from Rhode Island with my husband and we are looking to rent a 1 or 2 bed

Asked by Feli, Providence, RI Wed Jun 17, 2009

apartment near San Jose State University or near a light rail station. I'm planning to be in San Jose for the week of July 19th to go apartment hunting and wanted to know if I could hire a broker to line up possible rentals while I'm in San Jose. Or are brokers only used for when looking for a home to purchase?

Feli,

These sites will allow you to sample price vs. availability in the San Jose rental market:

Another site, with a very long URL is located below..

I also suggest this self paced tool. eMail the properties you like for appointment
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/apa/

If you are not sure about future, try month to month rent with 30 day written notice.
SJSU is downtown and the light way goes around a long way from Santa Teresa to Great America, Santa Clara.

Hi Feli, you can use the following MLS site to search for an rental/apartment in San Jose:

http://www.mlslistings.com/

For "Class" use "10", which is Residential Rental.

If you would like help with the showing process for the 19th, versus coordinating your visits by yourself with landlords/owners, please contact me offline and I would be happy to set-up an automated search for you that emails results.

BTW, I just did a 3-mile radius search of San Jose State and only found 8 rentals listed (ranging from $1595 to $8500.

Hi Feli,

Below you have received some great tools to use in your search. I just wanted to add, "Welcome to California". I am an East Coast transplant. I was born and raised in S. Dartmouth, MA and my husband was born in Newport and raised in Mattapoisett. We both moved to the San Jose area about 9 years ago from the Andover area.

If I can assist with anything while you are settling in to your new home, please feel free to contact me.

Best of luck and enjoy the weather!
