Well you got all your answers in various ways below, so nothing really to add for me, except yes, you cannot trust what you see on websites the public can easily access, often they are not updated, sometimes they show public records instead of rentals or sales, and any and all others.....

So Best rule work with a Realtor who has rental experience and he or she (work with only one and commit!!!) will find you the right rental for you, hopefully check before to see if there are already
applications on the table and make sure that your application is fully filled out and attractive to the
next landlord or managing company....

Not necessarily, many 3rd party websites picking up broker listings don't have accurate information. Also, there are "people" in general that will try to scam you, not necessarily the broker.

Buyer beware!

This has been extremely common lately on Trulia. And this is exactly why you need to work with an agent to find you available homes. Don't waste your time chasing rentals on general real estate sites. Too often the info isn't current. If you see something online that looks too good to be true, it probably is. Good luck!

Your best bet is to work with a Realtor that can show you all the listed properties. That way you have a professional on your team and you skip all the scams.

The listing agent of the property will always give you the correct information. Remember when viewing apartments, or houses, never send cash ahead.

Best of luck.

The listing agent would know if the unit is also for rent. It is a scam. Report the link as a suspected scam on the site you found it.

It very possibly is. The content was provided by way of a site called If you've spoken with the listing agent on this, you might want to mention that to them, so they can research it. Sadly, phony "for rent" postings are not exactly rare online, and you did the right thing by confirming if this house is for rent with the agent.
