Roshan gave a very good answer. I'd add one additional question: how old are your children, what grades are they in, and what are you looking for in a school system?

If you're willing to rent in one of the surrounding towns while you look for a house to buy, you'll have more choices. It sounds like a three (3) bedroom home would suit your needs, and you could rent one for less than you'd pay for four bedrooms.

Call, text or email me and I'd be glad to help.

Good Morning Trevor, Thank you for your inquiry into rentals in the Colts Neck area. I am a full time agent that covers Manalapan, Marlboro, Freehold, Colts Neck and surrounding areas. Currently there are 7 active rentals in Colts Neck from $3700-$8000 per month. All properties have a minimum of 4 bedrooms.

A few questions I ask of prospective tenants are:
1) Move time - how quickly do you need to find a rental?
2) Length of stay - Majority of landlords are looking for a minimum of a year.
3) Any pets or smokers?
4) How many bedrooms, bathrooms
5) Is a pool important?
6) Credit rating
7) Are you prepared to explore the surrounding towns?

Please feel free to reach me directly at (732) 492-6847 or via email rquigley@weichert.com to discuss further. Look forward to hearing back from you.
