Each community is different - plus rules do change.
Makes sense to verify and keep looking...

The attitude in Miami Beach is "no party houses" - because currently there are some...
and the local residents want their peace and quiet.

Best of luck,

Annette is Correct!!

My understanding is this;

It is ONLY Illegal IF you get caught. Same as most crimes, traffic, etc. :)

As you have read, it is only illegal IF you rent a home in a community where it is PROHIBBITED.

As more people move to Florida, the prevailing pattern is: Buy your piece of paradise in the Sunshine State, then spend the rest of your days keeping everyone else out. But, it not unique to FLORIDA, it is the pattern in CA, CO, NV or anyplace with desirable attributes.

A professional will be able to locate available single family homes where short term rentals are permitted. However, understand, this is a business, not a hobby. Fees may apply.

Best of success.

A. Jackson:

Many single-family homes and individual condominiums are rented for One Month, One Week, One Day and even "hourly" in Miami Beach.

Some jurisdictions enforce covenants to avoid and deter "vacation" hooligans- which often disrupt the "Peaceful Enjoyment" of permanent full-time residents.

Some exclusive neighborhoods of Miami Beach have imposed restrictions on short-term rentals due to the noise and traffic that was caused by celebrity parties taking over an entire Island.

I have several videos on my @YouTube channel that will give you an idea of what went down on Star Island, Palm Island and several other exclusive neighborhoods. Here is an example of one such event;

Hello Andreana,

What you were probably told is the rules and regulations or by-laws of the condominium that don't allow for a short term rentals. That's not illegal in the state or country, but not allowed in a complex, rather.

There are condos in Miami Beach where short term rentals are allowed.

But - the high season is upon us, and you have to move fast!

Hope this helps,

Short-term or vacation rentals are prohibited in Miami Beach single family home areas and in low-density (RM-1) multi-family areas. See the Miami beach government website.

Illegal? There is a great number of short term rentals in Miami Beach and that includes being able to rent for less than a month period. Can you explain if you are referring to a particular community? One where rentals are not allowed?
