Thanks for posting your question. The answer is probably yes. You should be able to get a place for $1000 per month. You might be able to qualify for an FHA loan, or you might need to do some work to become qualified. If you qualify now, you can start your search right away. If not, you might want to rent for a while so you can concentrate on building your credit and your downpayment.
Feel free to contact George at 410-599-9700. He is a loan officer with Citi. He will be happy to run the numbers for you and discuss your options. You are free to choose whichever lender you want to use, and George will be happy to give you information without any obligation.
Thanks again, and best wishes to you!

I have a lovely home facing Herring Run Park for sale for $82,000 which qualifies for a Healthy Neighborhood grant up to $25,000 and a City Lift Grant of $15,000 as well which would go a long way to reducing your loan amount. You can couple those with CDA grant money and possibly even an FHLB grant of another $5000.
Baltimore City has over 225 distinct communities and many are very suburban in feel. You could purchase a single family detached home or a townhome. There are townhomes in the Westview area of Baltimore County that are in your budget, Middle River single family homes as well as townhomes, some homes in Dundalk and Brooklyn Park as well. The opportunities for you are endless.
To qualify for FHLB and CDA funds you don't have to buy in Baltimore City but the opportunities are endless.
I'd be happy to discuss the opportunities with you and refer you to a lender who can help you qualify for these loan programs if you need me to.

Your options are endless. The only limitations are your imagination and actions you take or don't take. City Lift is a new program for buyers in Baltimore City where you don't need to be a 1st time buyer and could receive $15,000 towards down payment and closing costs. All you need to do in addition to being approved for a loan by a participating lender is attend a home buyer ed class and home buyer counseling session to receive a certificate. CALL ME to discuss your needs in more detail and other options that may work for your family.
