Per Revenue and Taxation Code 11911 you can transfer title without "exchanging money". Depending on the County Assessor they may re-assess your house if you do not transfer title correctly. I have a few quit claim deed forms and can show you how to find the legal description of the property in question.

In the State of Washington you will have to pay an Excise Tax to change title...so yes money will be needed and a Title Company or Attorney can do a Quit Claim Deed for you...

FIRST ANSWER
Yes a title can be changed without the exchange of money. A "Quit Claim Deed" has to be prepared by an attorney and then the person(s) that is on title presently has to grant title to you by signing off on the document along with yourself. See the attached website for a more detailed explaination.
