When purchasing a home, does the realestate attorney(purchaser's) get paid upfront or at closing?

Would this be considered a "closing cost" for the purpose of a seller concession?

Review the contract with attorney most professionals will not review any documents unless paid via a retainer whether you purchase a home or not.

ask your attorney. call another real estate attorney and ask them. a "retainer" fee is common.

Yes, same practice in NY, at the closing......UNLESS there are issues/complications discovered in advance with say, title, divorce, family inheritance, and the attorney asks for a retainer, that would be understandable.

The closing of a home can be confusing with taxes, fees, commission, that involve both the buyer and seller. Attorneys generally are paid at closing, once the normal extent of responsibilities are clear and monies change hands.

JPH-Attorney gets paid at closing.

Typically, you for an a home inspection upfront, an appraisal upfront, and make a good faith deosit on the home upfront. All other fees are generally collected at closing.
