I am busy and have a hard time calling around during normal business hours. I would like to get pre-approved for my new mortgage online. What is the best source to do this?

I work with a federally chartered credit union, and I would love to help with your mortgage needs. Email me, and let's discuss!

Hello Ss7026,

If you choose to use a lender with an on-line presence, that is fine. I would make sure that they are brick and mortar in your area too though. There is less chance of quality service if things get tough if your broker or banker is 1000 miles away. Make sure you check the origination and discount points too. Online lenders typically charge more in that area. Best of luck.

Whatever you do, don't get the real estate agent involved.

That's like using buying a car at a dealership and using their financing. You will never get the best rate.

Thanks for all the insight. I went to most of the sites listed. I really liked closeyourownloan.com and they had a ton of helpful info. No offense to anyone, but most of the other websites basically just wanted all of my personal information so you could call me back. That is not what I wanted.
It really seems like rates have taken a tumble over the last few days. Closeyourownloan.com is quoting 5.875% with 0 points. Yeah!

Good Luck with on line mortgages!! I have had nothing but trouble with on line companies. Go to a reputabel Mortgage Broker and let them search for the best loans for you. At least then you have a "real live person" to talk to not just a "maybe" answered e-mail.

Hi, As a real estate agent I do not suggest using an online mortgage company, With all of our rules and regulations in NY we have a very picky state, I personally have had 3 deals fall apart due to the use of on line loans and them not knowing certain rules. I am sure some online Mortgage companies are fine, but it is hard to tell the difference. Our Mortgage reps here understand we have strange scheduales and most of them have night hours and can start the process on the phone. A mortgage rep also can help find the best loan to fit for your needs.

I just applied at http://www.CloseYourOwnLoan.com. They beat the rates and fees from 3 different major lenders. Good luck!
