Speak to your attorney about who he/she recommends for title insurance & the fees involved. If you trust your attorney then trust his recommendations to you.

Hi Tjt,
The lender and owner title policy fees are actually set by the State of NY and do not vary among title companies. The only fees that vary are the fees for searches, endorsements, etc.
Here is a link to an excellent site that can provide you with a proposed title bill for any transaction. http://www.JudicialTitle.com Just click on "Rate Calculator" on the left menu. You will then choose your county and the details of your transaction i.e. Purchase, Refinance.
In the case of a Refinance a discounted reissue rate is available if you have had title insurance coverage in the past (ten years I beleive).
This Rate Calculator is easy to use and very accurate.
