$140,000 even with all her upgrades. They said this was due to foreclosures in the area. Is there a way to appeal the appraisal?

Hi Jso527,

If your daughter feels the appraisal is not accurate then by all means contact the bank and inquire as to their procedures to challenge the appraisal results. There is a strong possability that the appraiser that was hired by the bank was an out of area appraiser. If your daughter has any friends who by chance are Realtors in the local area then she may ask for them to run some comparables for her to in turn give to the bank. If by chance the appraisal is not adjusted and your daughter faces a serious hardship when the ARM adjusts on her current loan then her next step would be to contact the bank directly that controls her mortgage and try to complete a loan modification. I wish your daughter luck!
