I'm a contractor for a major company. Would that affect me buying a home?

Only if the seller forbid their contractors from buying. If you meet the criteria to get a mortgage, that should not hold you up. Simply ask teh listing agent if there are any rules regarding who can buy and who cant.

No, if your income is steady it doesn't matter that you are a contractor. You will be asked for your last 2 years tax returns.

Jacquelyn,
On the contrary; you would have an advantage, following the Inspectors, understanding what needs to be done and the work process:
The odd are that your new home will need at least some work.

You probably also understand the need to have a Real Estate professional at your side.

Good luck and may God bless
