Financing in Charlottesville>Question Details

Monique, Renter in Charlottesville, VA

I have recently filed Bankruptcy (Chapter 13, less than 1yr) is it possible for me to get financing via the Fannie Mae's Homepath financing

Asked by Monique, Charlottesville, VA Mon Feb 28, 2011

program? I'm renting, and there is a property next to me that is a Fannie Mae Homepath approved property. I loss my job a year ago and just enetered the work force again with a good salary etc. This property's mortgage would be less than what I pay in rent every month currently. Is there a lender out there that help people like me?

No, it's not. I know others say probably not but the answer is "no." (I know this question is old but I'm sure somebody else will have the same question eventually)

Hi, Dominique. Probably not. Most lenders are now requiring you to be a min of 12 months out of your chapter 13 before you can apply for a mortgage. Others, believe it or not, are requiring 24-36 months.

Hello Dominque,

I'm not sure, but I would be happy to refer you to a mortgage broker who can answer that question for you and may have a product to help you move towards owning your own home.
