You can work with a credit repair professional to help you repair your credit, rebuild your credit rating and get on a good budget so that you set yourself up for success. Good luck!

You may want to start off by pulling your credit report on freecreditreport.com. Look to see what is on there. You'll need to pay if you want to see your fico scores. Otherwise, review it, and if there is anything you can pay off or reduce, go ahead. If you have medical collections, make sure there's not duplicates and make sure they belong to you. You'll be amazed on what is on there and doesn't belong to you. Good Luck! carmenj@awdr.net

It depends on your credit situation. Go see a local mortgage lender and have them pull a credit report. They can help guide you as to which items to work on first. The main thing is pay everybill on time every month. Don't let your credit card balances go over half the maximum credit line if possible. Do have some current credit that is being used so there is good credit showing on your report. If you have judgements they will need to be paid in most cases. Again, a good mortgage person can help you get things in place as quickly as possible. It may take a while, but you will feel better when it is done.

Here is a little something that will help build your score up. Apply for a secured credit card, meaning that if you want a card allowing you up to $300, you give the issuing company that same amount to secure the debt in case you falter on payment, which you should not do. Use the card regularly and pay it in full each month when the bill is received and, very important, pay it on time. This will help get you on the road to credit repair in addition to other avenues. Hope this helps. Good luck

There are companies that specialize in credit repair. Some charge you, others do not.

It usually takes up to 2 years to repair your credit, depending on how bad it is.

You can run a search online for companies in your area, look into some of the consumer groups that offer free advice, and/or talk to a few mortgage brokers. They may be able to direct you to people who can help.
