that she will be working in Nc. She planned on moving here first, then finding her job. How can she get around having proof that she works in NC? She is currently working in Maryland.

Hi Sanb,
Your friend may not qualify for the loan she is seeking without the job she "plans" to get in NC. It may be best if she waits until she secures a job to buy a home in the area. Her lender can find alternatives for her if she is truthful with the lender with regards to where she is employed and her intentions for her move. For instance, she may actually fair better to qualify with her job in Maryland, she may transfer in the same field with a job in NC and still qualify although she has short term on the new job, etc. There are so many scenarios. The lender can offer her viable options if she gives them the whole picture.

Does she have a job transfer planned? If not, it doesn't seem like there is a way to "get around" it. Being straightforward with your lender is your best bet, ask them what options you have. Call a couple of lenders for other options if the current one can't make it happen.
