Amy,

The key is to find a company that can do VA loans AND a loan officer who's experienced. They are a unique breed of mortgages. Either somebody really knows them or knows very little.

There is many reasons for this. Too many to post in fact. Either the loan officer is a specialist or they are not. That simple.

We are a VA and FHA lender. What I can tell you is that we close in a matter of 2 Weeks Guaranteed (I can further explain if you want). What I cannot do is make up your mind. You should feel comfortable with whomever you chose. As I always say, perception is the client's reality.

Amy: You have been given lots of good information and names. Good luck in your decision making. All lenders are not dishonest...only a few in the barrel spoiled the reputation of the rest.

Like Scott said below - use the Good Faith Estimate to shop lenders. Make sure to watch the numbers they input for taxes, HOA, homeowners insurance etc. to shop apples to apple. Some lenders alter these numbers to make the overall number look better. Just something to watch out for. I have two lenders I recommend:

Ricky Khamis - Nova Home Loans - http://www.approvingaz.com

Nathan Jensen - Waterstone Mortgage - http://www.jensenlendinggroup.com

Rashel M. Beaver | Realtor® | DevStar Realty
D - 1.888.808.2175 M - 480.734.3787 F - 1.866.497.1809 http://www.azhomeexplorer.com OR http://www.rashelbeaver.com

Amyshea15,

The best advice I can give you is to interview a few lenders to see who can be the best match for you. When they give you a GFE (Good Faith Estimate) make sure you do a fair comparison of only the items they can control and not the items that will be fix no matter who your lender is, like taxes, some pre-paids, etc.

Also when shopping make sure that your credit is pulled only once. Pulling your credit too much can affect your credit. I always give my clients contact information for 2 or 3 lender so they can compare and choose the best one for their specific needs.

Please let me know if you want a list of a few proven local VA lenders.

Thanks and good luck!

FIRST ANSWER

I can understand your frustration because I recently helped my father get a VA loan. A lot of the information on the internet takes you to various mortgage companies, some of which can't help you. Most lenders can do VA loans because it's a guaranty from the VA, not an actual loan through them. I have a list of a several mortgage officers that I have worked with for years and would be happy to send you their contact information.

Here is address to the VA website, the real government one:
http://homeloans.va.gov/

Here is the address for the Phoenix VA office:

If I can be of any further assistance, please don't hesitate to call or email me.
