I have been disabled for 10 years. With the rising costs of everything,my morgtage is getting tougher to meet.Is there a rate available for the disabled to lower my payment?
I am not a professional but I am trying to find answers to cover some expenses I may incur in trying to help my daughter who has asthma once we move into a new home. It occured to me after I posted my question and then read yours that most disabilities have an advocacy group that helps those who suffer with said disability find solutions to their quality of life issues. See if there is such an advocacy group for your disability and then see if they can help you in anyway. They might not be able to pay your mortgage but they may be able to help you with other expenses.
Dear Donald as a mortgage professional I am not aware of any such program for disabled persons. An option for yopu to consider is re4financing if you have been in the loan your current loan for 5 years or more. The extra years of amortization will lower your payment. Another option would be to look for housing assistanc eprograms like section 8, which is usaullly used for rentals but in some instances it can be used to home ownership payments. Good luck
I have contacted several mortgage brokers in my area to find a solution for you. Currently there are no specific products that we could find for those mortgage holders with the inability to work full time due to disability. The best advise that I can give at this time is to open a line of communications with the mortgage holder. Ask them specifically if they can help you through this difficult time. With all of the issues in the credit market today, they may be able to make an exception for you with your good payment history. If they answer no at first - don't give up! Go to the next level of management and state your case until you get satisfaction. As someone who has had on and off bouts of a chronic disease, I can understand the frustrations that you must deal with. I wish you the best and hope this helps. Be well...............chris
