I like Rye because of its proximity to the Sound, as opposed to the PCB-rich Hudson River (on the West side of Westchester County). There is nothing like living close to the water. The parks and wildlife conservancies in Rye are also a plus. However, Rye does not have much of a night-life. In fact, I would be so bold to say Rye is a bedroom community (as is the majority of Westchester County).
Are there any buildinds with a lot of young professionals within Rye's vicinity? I don;t want to end up enjoying what Rye has to offer ALONE.
I am not from the area and have very few ties, with the exception of a few aunts and uncles, and some little cousins.
Also, is there an easy way to find buildings which are tax-abated? I did some research and the 421(a) tax abatement program seems like a great opportunity.
Thanks.
Dear Adam
There are many new restaurants in Rye with lively bar scenes. Ruby's is a very young and hip place to hang out and Morgan's is brand new a little more high end. Koo is a ultra modern Japanese or fusion style place with great martinis. In the summer there is Seaside Johnnie's at Rye Beach also young and friendly with great views of the sound. There is no lack of places for young professional in Rye. Additionally the Rye Y and Altheus Health club are a great lure to this age group.

Dear Adam,
I have two children who are young professionals. Right now Rye is in transition welcoming new businesses to the area. The Rye Grille restaurant is being rebuilt to a larger more modern facility and The High Street Road House (also a restaurant) is under new management. There are more places in White Plains which is about 15-20 minutes from Rye and is becomming a mini Manhattan. I will check the status on some of the Co-ops and Condos in the area and get back to you if you would like.
