Asked by Alison Hillman, San Francisco, CA Tue Jul 17, 2012

Do most locals leave their neighborhood to go out to bars at night?

Hello Alison,

There is also a really great art gallery/lounge combo down at 251 Rhode Island and 16th Street. They feature work from local and national artists with a particular focus on San Francisco artists. Every couple of weeks they have a new show. Keep any eye out for one that looks appealing to you and pop in. Don't be surprised if you find yourself dancing away into the night to some of San Francisco's best DJs.

Cheers,
Wendy

Hi Alison,

I find that most people I know if the City start by going all over town to figure out what works for them, but after some time we all get used to our local haunts and spend more time at them than going too far out of our way.

Potrero has its fair share of dive bars, range of eateries and good coffee houses, client that I have sold to in that area will generally stay in Potrero or head over to the Mission or go to Dog Patch depending on who they are meeting.

That’s my take anyway.

Hi Alison,

One neighborhood bar in the Potrero district that offers Salsa, Bachata, and Zumba lessons along with live music, is Cafe Cocomo on Indiana Street.

It really depends on they're looking for, I imagine. Bloom's is a nice neighborhood spot on 18th Street and then you've got The Connecticut Yankee a little further down the hill.

Bottom of the Hill and Thee Parkside also offer a great mix of live music as well.

Cheers,

Toby
