That is my one word answer. Gary pretty much summed up the Music scene in Fairfax. There is a thriving outdoor community here and the trails are a common meeting place. Yes, there is a great Farmer's market, as well as a number of other fairs and/or festivals. The great majority of Fairfax residents enjoy a good time, and a good time seems easy to find here.

Cafe Amsterdam is closed and now (July) opening as new business-hopefully with live music soon.
live music also at Bookbeat cafe/Bookstore, Iron Springs Brewery, the farmers market Wednesdays in Peri Park , and even the library occaissionally.
My neighbors sometimes have blugrass bands live and I can hear it from my home here.

This is musical heaven and Monday nights is jam night at most clubs.
Ive seen Dick Dale, the entire Count Bassie Orchestra, Its a Beautiful Day, Big Brother and Holding Co, English beat, Dave mason and I forget who else in past 5 yrs at 19 Broadway!
A great small town feeling here with most amazing local volunteers organized by John Reed for creek clean up those in need.
People are mostly super friendly here without the big city fears, and its safe to walk at night.
Its great for dogs and kids too as they are social animals right?

Despite its size and relatively out-of-the-way location, there is no better place for night life in Marin than Fairfax. Any night of the week you can find a variety of live music at either 19 Broaway, Peri's or Cafe Amsterdam.
