SF seems to have the most sushi/Japanese restaurants I have ever seen in any city...many of them are excellent.

There are many international cuisines in downtown. I like Indian restaurant chutney near O'Farrell st and gratitude on harrison are good.

yes, there are many great choices. From expensive and exquisite Anjou (French) and Ponzu (Asian Fusion) to hall-in-the-wall "Thai Stick" or Naan-N-Curry (open late). Downtown has probably the best mix of various cuisines in the whole city.
