RiverCity CDC is a GREAT place to start! There is a grant program for our area, and they can help you get your credit to where it needs to be, in many cases. If you qualify, there are funds available to assist with a downpayment. With rents being so high in E. City.....and mortgage rates being so low...it is CRAZY to keep paying rent! Rent to own is really not a good idea, therefore consider fixing whatever is preventing you from purchasing outright. Rent to own can be risky and one could stand to lose a bit of money, it favors the owner; therefore inform yourself well in advance of your search, and consider consulting with an attorney who specializes in real estate before considering the idea and or before signing any agreement.
