I drive to Daly City BART every morning about 8am from my house near the Capistrano and Route 1 intersection. It takes exactly half an hour. If the seller is agreeable, you can submit a backup offer, and get a backup contract in place in case the first contract does not work out. Sometimes sellers will do that if they think the current buyer might cancel due to financing or property inspection contingencies. But sometimes they won't, and your best option is to keep an eye on the house yourself.
To be alerted if the property comes back on the market, you can set yourself up for updates on certain real estate web sites, like Trulia. Just enter your search criteria and then save your search. The most direct source for the information is MLS Listings in our area, and a Realtor can set up a search for you on the MLS so you will receive an email when houses that you are interested in are active on the market.

There is a 900-acre piece of land up above El Granada Blvd that is currently available. The views are amazing - from Mt. Diablo to the East to San Francisco to the North to Pigeon point to the South down the coast. The land borders the State Wildlife Refuge area that surrounds Crystal Springs reservoir. Wow!
