Presently, we could do this job for as little as $50,000; barring any complications with regards to the heating or plumbing-in other words, simple tie ins. This also assuming you have the proper setbacks for an addition this size. Additionally, we're talking four standard windows, (hurricane rated windows cost about 3 x as much) a single door, simple asphalt roofing and composite tile, or comparable flooring. Keep in mind, that this does not include the cost of plans, engineering, electrical upgrades, which may be required or furnace, boiler or septic upgrades. These could potentially add between $5000-$20,000. We are a Wareham based building and remodeling company and I offer this answer based on an actual addition we are doing in the nearby town of Middleboro and one we did recently in Plymouth. Of course, if this is to be a kitchen or bathroom they could add substantially to the cost.

When ifs and buts are candies and nuts, we'll all have a merry Christmas. There is no way to answer this question without a lot of detail. Is this a one car garage? Is it a bedroom? Are there any plumbing fixtures involved? Will it be heated? It is a shell or will it be finished? If it is finished, will there be hardwood floors, tile, carpet, ...? If there are counters, are they rock, composite, wood, ...? How many windows, and are you within 2 miles of the coast? If you're within 2 miles of the coast, are you installing hurricane windows or plywood covers? ...
You could go to town hall and ask to see the building permits issued for the last month. On those permits, there will be a cost of the renovations. Sometimes those are close to actual.
Lots more info needed.

Hi Allison,

Typically a basic room addition can cost anywhere between $115 - $250 per square foot and up.
Single room addition, crawl space foundation, minimal electrical, minimal structural work, no plumbing, average finishes, average number of windows, easy tie-in to existing home, tie into existing heating system. (Generally – the larger and more open the spaces are the less per square foot.).

Let me know if you are in need of a contractor. A have a few names of great contractors in your area.

Good Luck!
