We are building a new home in iperton TN. Should we buy a gas 36" 5 burner cooktop or a 30" 5 burner cooktop.?

The 30" 5 burners are new, previously you had to get a 36" to get 5 burners. The appliance salesperson recomends the 30" because the features and quality are better, one such feature is an ultra low "simmer" feature. Both are Bosh. Space is not an issue.

Hi Jack,

When building our house a couple of years ago - we went with the top of the line, 5 burner gas cook top - and man are we glad we did. Not only do we have extra eyes (burners) , we also have different sized burners that make cooking a true pleasure. We do not consider ourselves "chefs", but it is logical cooking and those who really know, know that we did the right thing.

As a Realtor, I am always making my decision on what we be best for resale. You cannot not go wrong with putting the money in the kitchen on staple items.

It is a personal preferance but we modified our kitchen when we built because we preferred a 36 inch range. Not only do you get a larger surface area an the top but also a larger oven on the 36. Viking also makes some heavy duty ranges.
