I think it depends on how much the high-def, wide screen, super thin, t.v. and supporting sound system costs. LOL!

Wow ... what a question. Probably in most cases you end up spending the most on the kitchen. But it's really a more personal decision.

You definitely spend the most and recoup the most on investments made in the Kitchen!

Well, you might spend the most money on your family room with a big screen HDTV and surround sound and stereos and computers, but those are Not fixtures nor improvements to your home!

Hi Trulia:

Kitchen and bath upgrades cost the most, and one spends more money on these.
the amount of time spent in the Kitchen and Baths, is not as much as the Family
room or Bedroom or Office or Garage.

Rooms where one spends most time are those that are more comfortable.

Bets regards

Typically the kitchen and bathrooms are the most expensive to update.
When listing your home to sell ,you want to attract buyers. Buyers are
looking for homes that are updated and not expensive to update.

What an excellent question. I know from experience that most new construction budgets allocate a large portion of the construction funds towards the finish-out of the home. This includes flooring, cabinetry and trim work, counter tops, interior doors, hardware, appliances etc. The kitchen and master bath are usuallty the two most expensive rooms in a house.

In regards to light cosmetic remodels, there is nothing quite so strange as to walk in a home with a subzero wine chiller in the kitchen, and the door handles falling off, or torn up carpet in other rooms. It's a good idea to make sure your dollars are allocated in moderation throughout the house to get the greatest value. Though, you might keep a few extra dollars set aside for the wine chiller! :)

Is the house to be used for your enjoyment or for resale.
If the owner intends to stay put, they should spend the money on what they will enjoy.
Too often home owners wait until it's time to sell before updating their home. They spend the money and in the end sell their dream home they never enjoyed.
The heart of the home tends to receive the greatest financial support.

If a person spends the majority of time daily in their garage.........

Not even close. You spend the most money per minute spent in bathrooms, then kitchens . . . bedrooms are where you spend the most time . . .

That depends---are we talking about the 'kitchen work area' or the 'man cave'! Oh! Let's not forget the 'master suite'-----

With more information - we could possibly be of more help---
