This is Josh and I would like to recommend a furniture store called Heath Refinishing. There possibly you can buy new furniture and also the right place for you to repair any of your damaged furniture. Apart from refinishing services, they help you repair cabinet services also.
Lane is the place for recliners! I did a lot of research & landed on this company in part bc of Costco who was carrying a Lane recliner chair (onine) but no longer are. I'm really picky and comfort and design were equally important. You get that with Lane along with what I feel are good, reasonable prices.
Oriental Rugs & Interiors in San Carlos has a really good selection of their recliners and they may still be on sale.
You have to sort through the old school styles but they do have some cool, retro designs and fun fabric patterns. Comfortable is an understatement!
Sitting on my Lane recliner now and working away!

There are some cool shops on Telegraph and you can also head over to the Rockridge area and stroll College Avenue.
On the Peninsula, San Mateo Drive has a lot of antique shops from Burlingame south and there is a Scandinavian Designs on South B Street in San Mateo. I purchased something from them a bit ago and was pleasantly surprised at the professionalism of their delivery service.
There are lots of options but some of my clients have really had some good luck South of Market in the City with so many stores having slow sales. Just remember that the sticker price is the dream price. My best friend and I walked into a mattress store and negotiated a price over 30 below the "sale" price. Negotiate, negotiate, negotiate... and be willing to walk away!
