Declutter, declutter, declutter! That's first and foremost. My clients often rent a storage Pod to remove absolutely everything but the essentials.

Little things make it easy -- you'd be amazed how just straightening books in a bookcase and arranging the books by height affects a room visually.

Really, as long as you get as much "stuff" out as possible and make sure everything's clean, you're ahead of the game.

Clean lines are always good. Stick with a theme, an easy go to is black and white then you can add in some accent colors. Curtains always help warm a home. Furniture paints a picture in the buyers mind of how they see themselves in the home. Many times the buyer will want some of the items in the staged home to stay. : )
