Wow. A real Marble tub is big bucks. I don't think I would spend the money there unless the home is over the 1.2#
Fiberglass tub is standard equipment.

I would look for a large Garden tub, maybe add some jets.

To answer your question go with the fiber glass. to invest all that money in marble someone might not like.
Below is a link to some nice marble / stone tubs. starting at 2K they go up in price quick

Regardless of the price I would pick fiberglass / clutured marble or other forms of plastic over marble because plastic is more comfortable. Marble has a much greater heat capacity than plastic. Thus a marble tub would feel cold to touch, and would not be as comfortable to relax in.

Ask about cultured marble tubs. You can find these at kitchen and bath companies or countertops companies that deal with marble vanity tops. Not much more expensive than fiberglass, stronger, no noise at all and looks extremely similar to real marble.

You can get great looking fiberglass tubs that will bring the same value to your home. If you aren't in a 1 million++ house, you will not get your money back (ROI).

Marble would be very, very expensive. Tumbled marble in a bathroom is great, but in the tub itself?? I have a feeling this would be a difficult surface to maintain. I'd go with marble IN THE BATHROOM but not IN THE TUB....surrounding the tub - yes, but not the tub itself....

Btw, parts of my area in Westchester, NY are very high end. I haven't run into marble tubs yet - might happen, but not so far.
