It is of paramount importance! Most home buyers these days start their search on line. They want to see lots of photos and a virtual tour. Then, if they like what they see, they will often drive by the house. That is where curb appeal comes into play. If the house has good curb appeal, they will generally call a realtor and ask for a showing as long as the house meets their other criteria. So, curb appeal is step two in the process of searching for a home. The only thing as or more important is internet presence.

You only get one chance to make a great first impression and that begins from the moment a potential buyer pull up to your house. Great curb appeal can make the different between a buyer calling to see the house or not.

If first impressions are important, a home's curb appeal is the first impression.

Hope this helps,

Laurie,
Time and time and time and time again, what one sees on the outside of a home is EXACTLY what they see on the inside. If a buyer is looking to make a fair offer on a move-in home, they will not cross the threshold of a home that is shabby on the outside. The mere prospect of seeing another 'harvest gold' tub pushes such buyers to the brink!

Nothing shots the positive sale of a home faster than trying to save money by skipping the inexpensive curb appeal process. That includes power washing, gleaming front door and hardware, grass, and manicured landscaping. And today, in Virginia, get that snow off the entry!

It's a top priority. The outside of a home speaks volumes of the interior of a home. If it is clean and appealing, you have a better chance of the home being shown. Many buyers perform a drive by prior to scheduling an appointment.

I equate it to fine dining......if it looks good you can't wait to taste it! If it doesn't, you'll pass and order something else.

Hi Laurie,

Probably the two most important sales factors are price and "curb appeal." These are the long distance features on which potential buyers will base their search.

So, how important.....very important. It price and curb appeal that draws people to want to see other features the home has to offer. Mowing, trimming, planting, painting etc. can often be done with a modest investment of time and money but add greatly to its appeal and potential sale price.

When selling, it's important to let your home "shine" both inside and out!

Good luck,

Bill

VERY important!! First impressions are the most lasting. We can say "Don't judge a book by it's cover" all we want and folks still will do it.

Hi Laurie,
Curb appeal is of prime importance as this is the first impression that buyers see. Many agents suggest to their buyer clients to drive by the property first to determine if the property is worth considering. If the yard looks unkempt or the outside of the home looks to need repairs then the buyer may walk away thinking that the interior is in the same condition. First impressions are very important so sellers should make the outside of the property as attractive and appealing as possible.

Best wishes!
