Great looking garage-top deck - where can I find examples/ideas?
I have a simple deck built on the rooftop of my garage, which sits behind my Lincoln Square (near Andersonville) home. I have an ugly view of the backs on other houses, and I'm looking to build some privacy screens and perhaps a pergola on the deck. In the past few years, I have seen a few gorgeous garage-top decks from ground level as I drive around town. I ask the real estate pros: do you have any suggestions on where to locate pictures of the best garage top decks? How about great contractors?
I'd love to hear what other resources you may have found.
I'm in Lincoln Square too (Rockwell) and thinking of doing the same.
How easy is it to get ComEd to move some wires around (wires that cross over potential deck area) ??

You can contact Jon Hill, Owner of Artistic Construction... my licensed full service GC. He'll help come up with creative ideas and does great work (helps with design concepts as much as getting the job done). The estimate will probably be better then some of the "deck specialist" companies.

As far as photos, I see most private deck photos from MLS listing photography or see them up front on my client showings. Your budget will determine how creative you can get.
