sometimes dressing up a boar, tends to make ones life less boring!
If you got it, add a nice tub. You may not recoup your financial investment, but you will be rewarded with a self perceived better quality of life
and isnt that why we do what we do?
It may be like fitting a boar with a tuxedo.................
If marble tubs aren't the norm in that area, and if you intend to sell your place later, then don't expect for that modification to add much to your bottom line. On the other hand, if marble tubs are the norm, and if you opt to go with fiberglass, then you'll probably want to install a marble one when you're ready to sell to help make your property more marketable.
While it's important for one to enjoy one's home, a lot of sellers are learning in this market that buyers aren't willing to pay any extra for the sellers' special touches. No matter what you do to modify your property, you'll only end up selling it for its market value (or less).
Forget about comparables....You live there, enjoy that time. If you have the bucks to install a marble tub, and if that tub adds to your quality of life...I say, you go boy!
Have you checked out what kinds of tubs are installed in the comparable properties in your neighborhood? If not, then you should do so. You don't want your place to be the cheapest or most expensive one on the block.

Hello Michael,
Why not try Cultured Marble (synthetic marble)?. The prices are very reasonable and it looks very good. I google searched your ZIP and "cultured marble" and found a number of dealers and craftsman near you.

Do the fiberglass tub..there is one for $220 at Lowes that is really nice, then put some 8" tile surround...should cost you about $140 in tile materials, $300 in labor for the tile installation.
Michael.....
How about a third choice.....a tile enclosure would look nice. Is that a possibility for you?
Really, this is a question of personal tastes and what you plan on doing with the home... living in it? renting? selling? I would personally say go with a nice tasteful fiberglass unit in a home priced in that range.
Didn’t find what you were looking for? Ask a question!
