Aloha Debbie,
Keep your search local. Ideally it's best to find a painter who lives and has references nearby. Mr. Epps did a great job in outlining questions you should ask a prospective painter. However, I suggest that you make sure that the quote they offer is always for TWO coats of paint. Single coats usually don't last very long. Best of luck.
Try Carmelo Vargas painting 720-260-5824
He's painted 2 rental unit interiors, 1 flip interior/exterior, and the exterior of our home in Louisville,
I've referred him to friends and clients and others appreciate his quality and price.
There are painters available in the Boulder area that work at all levels of professionalism, expertise and price. I find that in many cases, as soon as I recommend a particular vendor, someone's got a different opinion about why NOT to use a vendor just as quickly as another person will swear by them. (not at them..) so I hesitate to put out a name in a public forum.
Good questions to ask are things like:
-How long have you been in business?
-May I have addresses of recent work you've done?
-Will you plan on rolling the paint or spraying?
-What brand of paint will you use?
-Will you do one or two coats?
-What kind of pre painting prep work will you do?
-Will your crew stay on the job from beginning to end without leaving for another job?
-Why should I choose you over another painter?

The best way to find a good painter is to ask to SEE his work and talk to his previous customers.
If he isn't forthcoming on both issues, forget it.
I'd particularly want to see work done at least a couple of years ago to see how it has held up.
