Your best source of information is the local police department, why not call/visit and ask all your questions, they'll gladly help--or if not familiar with the area drive around the neighborhood more than once and at different times of day, chat with the locals if the opportunity arises and inquire.

There is also a website called http://www.familywatchdog.us as well. You can put your city, state and zip code in and it will show you offenders within your area.

http://www.city-data.com is a good resource. Contacting the local police dept will give you a more detailed look at specific areas.

I agree with Chris that the news 9 website is a great one. I heard that 73170 was one of the more affluent areas which I can believe given all the great homes and neighborhoods in that zip code.

Hi Tom!
Here are a few links for you, I hope this info helps. Are you considering moving to SW OKC/Moore Area? I live in that area and my office is also located in SW OKC (73170) so I am very familiar with the neighborhoods, schools, etc. Please contact me anytime, I'm always happy to help!

This is a question with many broad answers and numbers for 2009 may not be readily available. But, there are two sites that will allow you to see most of 2008 and 2007's data and allow users to form their own conclusions about a particualr area. Reliability has not been verified by my office, brokerage, or board. Please use at your own risk. The best method to get a feel for a particualr area is the old-fashioned method... Go knock on some doors of residents in the area you are considering. To surf from the comfort of your chair, these sites may provide some insight:
