If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods. When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local police department with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand...

Suggestion: subscribe (FREE!) to crime and google for local police precinct for that address and call them, talk to them, tell them before you buy you would like to know about crime in the area and ask for a report.

If you don't like what you find out, let me know what you are looking for and I will pursue finding you a safe area in a gated or otherwise secure community. Would you consider other areas besides West Palm Beach? Do you have any pets (would need to know their weights) and are you age 55 or older? Some complexes have these kinds of restrictions.
