For local crime statistics in any neighborhood you should check with the Sarasota County Sherrif's Office - There are some other web sites that will give you crime statistics as well. It is a good idea to drive through the neighborhoods yourself at different times of day, nights, weekends to see what is going on. I can send you a neighborhood report if you would like. Feel free to search for properties on my web site at: I would be happy to help.

"What is safe? No one has the answer"
Here's my answer: safe is safe [ sayf ]
not dangerous: unlikely to cause or result in harm, injury, or damage
not in danger: in a position or situation that offers protection, so that harm, damage, loss, or unwanted tampering is unlikely
unharmed or undamaged: in an unharmed, uninjured, or undamaged condition

Safe would be somewhere with low crime - low rapes low murders probably low burglary/mugging as well.. Safe would be somewhere with good schools and low gang activity. Safe would be somewhere that you don't have to sleep with a gun under your pillow, gun in your pocket when walking the dog at night, worrying about your wife at home alone at night while you work. Just saying.

Living in Sarasota now for over 5 years I can only say this the home you are looking at is in Palmer ranch. It does not get any better than this area any where. This location is made up of numerous subdivisions all very posh and covering a large area of southern Sarasota. Ther are several private golf communities in this area.close to the beach and most of the major car dealer are in this area. Jaguar,Mercedes Lotus BMW, Range Rover, Lexus, and so on. It is truely a lovely area, but crime can go on anywhere. If you are thinking of Sarasota Palmer Ranch has many place to offer. If you want to see some other of the nieghborhoods contact me and I will send them to you.

Jack, it is impossible to define what is a "safe" place to live. Everyone would have a different definition of what feels "safe" to them. You should know, first of all, that Deer Creek is a gated community with a guard house. If that's not enough for you, then you should take a look at the Sarasota county Sherriff's Office web site to study crime mapping anywhere in the county.… If I read the map correctly, the Sarasota county sherriff's department web site shows just one petty theft in Deer Creek from February 16, 2012 to February 16, 2013. Is this safe enough for you?

Of course, Sarasota Square Mall is nearby, and I think that it is understood that petty crimes often happen at shopping malls.

I live in the Palmer Ranch area, and have never been concerned about crime. Your personal level of concern for safety may be different from mine, however.

If you have not yet seen the home on Antler Trail, I would be happy to show it to you. It is a very nicely-updated home, and I have shown it to several buyers who have been impressed.

What is safe? No one has the exact same answer. And, for Realtors, answering your questions regarding safety of neighborhoods could potentially be against the law.

Realtors are forbidden from giving an opinion on the safety, ethnicity, or other demographic composition of an area or neighborhood based on legally protected classes of people under the Fair Housing Act of 1968.

So the best response I can give is to suggest you go to the Sarasota county sheriff's website to see the crime statistics of that area of Sarasota.…

By the way, since you are looking at a home in Deer Creek within Palmer Ranch, I would mention that a number of homes within Deer Creek have had issues with pin hole leaks in the metal water pipes over the years. So a good question to ask the homeowner is - has the home been replumbed?

Good luck with your home search, and if you'd like other types of information about Deer Creek and/or Palmer Ranch, please send me an email or give me a call.
