When it comes to any safety/crime related issues, it's always best to contact the local police department with all your questions, hear all there is to hear firsthand. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.

Your best bet is to go to the neighborhood Police District and ask for the recent neighborhood Blotter.

This way you get the info right from the horses mouth.

Fair Housing Laws prevent Real Estate Agents from discussing crime, familial status, gender, etc.

You should take a look at the philadelphia police department's website / they have an interactive crime map with stats and you can check out the block.

Also go on to EveryBlock Philadelphia and get some community feedback.

Let me know if you need anything.
