In '07/'08 there was a spike in crimes and auto fatalities; but it must have just been an anomaly and this may be what you are seeing in the graphs you are looking at.

Julie Chapman's remarks about leaving your doors open are true; we accidently left our garage door open to the world with the lights on inside nicely displaying my cruiser motorcycle, roll away tool chest, power tools, and the door to our kitchen for a three day weekend.

When we came back everything was as we left it, so yes, it is a fairly safe place.

The best resource for ths information is the local police department or county sheriff's department. They have access to the most accurate and current information and are generally very willing to be helpful.

Good luck

Zealand's Mom did a great job of answering your question. I was raised here but moved away to California after college and returned home to raise my own son.

Living in coastal Georgia for the last 20 years for me means sleeping with your doors to your home unlocked, leaving your car parked in front of your bank running while you go inside to do your banking, sending your child to school with no fear of violence in the schools.....it is a lifestyle.

One of the largest Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers in the United States is located here. A large majority of the homeowners living near are ATF, FBI, Secret Service, NCIS, Border Patrol, Customs, IRS, etc and the students for the center are living in temporary housing and hotels all through the area. It makes for safe living when you have that many highly trained law enforcement agents and employees living in an area.

Glynn County's largest dollar income is from tourism. There is also a 4 year college and new technical school here. Our port is growing by leaps and bounds. We are world renowned for our relaxed lifestyle and friendly attitude.

I would be interested in seeing where you found those statistics and would like to be the first to extend a welcome to Brunswick and the Golden Isles of Georgia.

Hi, I have lived here for 4 years...we moved straight from Alaska. We, too, were worried about the demographics for the area. I have seen ZERO crime! Honestly, this is the cutest, quaintest, safest and cleanest town I have ever lived in!!! Even the ghetto, is beautiful! I think you will enjoy it!
